Protect What Matters Most
Isn't it ironic that we often have such a negative reaction when insurance is brought up? Maybe it is because it is such a personal issue and some of the people in the business do not seem to respect that fact.
Have you ever been asked by some agent for referrals before the ink on your application had a chance to dry? In my opinion, an agent has to earn referrals. They come with trust.
Trust. Maybe that's the reason many of us don't like insurance agents. I certainly never thought I would become an insurance agent. In fact, when I finished graduate school, my dad asked me what I was going to do. When I responded that I wanted to be in sales, he asked the natural follow up question..."well, what do you want to sell?" My emphatic response was... "anything but insurance."
Funny how life works out. I have been in the insurance business for almost 11 years now, and I love it. Why? I think it is because it is a personal business. I really do like people, and I like to help. If I can help someone obtain the coverage they need to protect their family from a financial catastrophe because of a serious illness or injury, I feel like I am helping them. If I can help a business grow and prosper by helping them attract and retain their best employees, that really feels good. When I can help a business which is experiencing financial difficulties drastically reduce their insurance costs by thousands of dollars, I feel like I am making a difference for them.
One of the toughest calls I've received was from an acquaintance. She had cancer. I really never even thought to ask her about insurance. Now, I wish I had. The products I sell really do help people. In fact, they can change lives.
No one really likes to think about insurance. It helps us protect against things we don't even want to think about...getting sick or hurt, leaving our family vulnerable because of a premature death, not being able to work and provide for our family. Insurance is the one product that we need, but we really hope we never have to use.
I consider it a privilege and an honor to be trusted by my clients to handle their insurance needs. My mission statement is simple and straightforward: I want to help my clients "Protect What Matters Most."
